At Kenmore Dental we provide the latest in dental implants and restorative dentistry technology. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that serve as anchors for replacement teeth. When a patient is missing one or more teeth, dental implants are the most permanent (and often the most comfortable) solution. Read on to learn more, but don't forget to visit our smile gallery to view some before-and-after photos of the dental implants.
The first step in the process of a dental implant is to call our Kenmore Dental office for a consultation with Drs. D'Arrigo, Dobos or Burke. During this visit all possible tooth replacement options will be discussed. To be a good candidate for dental implant(s), the dental patient must have sufficient bone in his or her jaw to support the implant(s) and be medically stable to undergo implant placement. Once we feel the patient is an acceptable candidate for implant placement, we will recommend a specialist (either an oral surgeon or periodontist) whom we work very closely with. This specialist will continue the process of evaluating the patient surgically for implant placement. This could involve further imaging or medically related testing to ensure the best scenario for implant placement. Once this is completed, the implant placement is scheduled and completed. They place the titanium implant that will serve as an anchor into the patient's jaw. The next step in the dental implant process will occur after the implant(s) have integrated or fused to the surrounding bone. Once this has occurred, the patient can return to our office for restorative dentistry treatment, where the patient will be receive the custom-crafted replacement tooth or teeth onto the implant (artificial tooth roots).
Dental implants are nearly indistinguishable from a patient's natural teeth.
Dental implants also allow patients to feel more comfortable while speaking and eating because dental implants are permanently affixed to the patient's jaw.
Dental implants used for single tooth replacement allow teeth to be kept independent which allows for easier cleansability and provides a more conservative treatment.
Dental implants that are placed to help retain a complete or partial denture allows a patient to no longer use denture adhesive or feel that their denture or partial will loosen or come out when they least expect it.
