Dental Crowns

When a tooth has been significantly damaged by a cavity, has a very large filling, has had root canal therapy or suffered trauma, a crown is often the treatment of choice. To restore functionality and appearance, and to seal the tooth from further damage, a dental crown will be placed over the entire tooth surface. Dental crowns can be made from metal, ceramic or porcelain as well as a combination of these materials. We will review the tooth location and important factors such as bite, wear on other teeth or whether a patient grinds their teeth to help in selecting the best material to use.
